quick trip to pana

President's Day turned out to be an extended long weekend holiday. Georgetown had a faculty retreat from 20-21 February. So instead of having only Monday off, we had Tuesday and Wednesday off too. Since I didn't have classes on Friday, it was a 6-day weekend! I was supposed to go skiing with some friends in Pennsylvania. But they were leaving on a Friday and I had an outline due that night! The procrastinator in me put everything off until Friday morning and I had to spend my whole Friday completing the outline. Was thinking what a long boring weekend it was going to be! Luckily, I checked out United's last minute e-fares and got a really cheap flight to Springfield, IL!! I had long planned to visit my cousin, Tis, and her family in Pana, Illinois but plane fare was always almost $400! This time, the total airfare including taxes, was just $201!! This was definitely my chance to visit them since I could fly out Saturday night and come back on Tuesday evening - allowing me to work on Wednesday and catch up on my required number of hours for the week.

Surprise surprise - i called my cousin and it was a good thing she hadn't planned anything for the weekend since she had to drive almost 1 hour to pick me up at the airport before we get to her house in Pana. I arrived late Saturday night and met her husband and cute cute Celine! She was such a doll! Luke was asleep at this time and I met him the next morning. And such hyper kids they were!! Springfield was once home to Abe Lincoln and it was Lincoln Lincoln Lincoln everywhere! We went to the Presidential Museum and I was amazed with the wealth of information stored there on Abe. There were even 3-d shows with terrific effects. Achi Tis and I took turns watching the shows since a "responsible adult" had to be watching the kids (we left them in Mrs. Lincoln's attic).. i don't know how responsible i was since Celine bumped her mouth on the play table during my watch! ooops.. sorry chi tis! :). After spending 1 weekend with them, I think i'm not having 6 kids anymore - hehe.. two will be the perfect number!
